Thatch Caye Resort Muy' Ono, Belize

A few months ago we planned a vacation within our vacation to go to Belize with good friends.  The winter storms played games with the three couples trying to get to Belize.  Flight changes, cancellations and re-routing for our friends coming from Michigan were frustrating for them.  Sadly, only one of the couples made it to the island. To get to the island we had to take a small 12 person plane and then a small boat.    We enjoyed a unique thatched roof room over the water.  Such a fun experience.  The weather was chilly, windy and rainy for the first days.  We had a couple of sunny days at the end of the trip.  The resort capacity was approximately 30 guests.  Meals were together as a group and allowed us to meet and make many new friends.  Happy hour was on a dock overlooking the ocean with snacks and cocktails.  There were two island dogs named Marley and Pico and they were so friendly.  One day they followed us back to our room Marley went under our bed to take a nap! We took an island hopping boat one day to visit the other islands nearby.  It was great to be able to be outside finally after the wind and rain.  All was going well until our boat stopped on the way back.  Another boat quickly came and towed up back to our resort.  The next day the girls enjoyed massages and the boys went lobster hunting.  We had a great feast for dinner with the lobster, crab and conch that was caught.  Todd caught 2 lobster and one crab! Evenings after dinner were times to gather in the main resort community bar area for drinks and music.

Long travel days to get to the island and to get back!
